History
The Little Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church was established in the approximate year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and ninety seven. A group of dedicated and concerned believers met together and organized the Macedonia Baptist Church. It is unknown at when the name was changed to Little Macedonia. In the year of 1912, the first wood framed church was built. The building stood approximately three fourths miles from the present location. In 1940, the church was moved to a location near where our fellowship hall stands. The first pastor of the church was the late R.B. Hunter.
In the year of 2009, the month of July, Reverend Jesse Nathaniel Smith, was installed as Pastor of Little Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Under his leadership God has blessed Little Macedonia to make tremendous strides, both spiritually and Physically. May God bless our church under this man of God’s new leadership.
Our Church
Our Church has a rich Baptist tradition and yet has a mixture or accent of the contemporary which addresses all ages, the young as well as the old. We contend that it is significant and yet important that everyone is ministered to.
Our Lord Jesus, on serveral occasions gave validity to this style of ministry. On one in particularly was when He was address by the disciples of John the Baptist on the disscussion about fasting. One day the disciples of John the Baptist came to Jesus and asked him, "Why don't your disciples fast like we do and the Pharisees do? Jesus replied, " Do wedding guests mourn while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. "Besides, who would patch old clothing with new cloth? For the new patch would shrink and rip away from the old cloth, leaving an even bigger tear than before.
"And no one puts new wine iinto old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved." Matthew 9:14-17. NLT
Jesus used this description to explain that he had not come to patch up the old religious system of Judaism with its rules and traditions. His purpose was to bring in something new, though it had been prophesied for centuries. The new message, the Good News said that Jesus Christ, God's Son, came to earth to offer all people forgiviness of sins and reconciliation with God. The Good News did not fit into the old rigid legalistic system of religion. It needed a fresh start. The message will always remain "new" because it must be accepted and applied in every generation. When we follow Christ, we must be prepared for new ways to live, new ways to look at people, and new ways to serve.
